Wadmalaw Island BBQ Wings

Inspired by my childhood summers on Wadmalaw Island, SC.  


Kardea's Wadmalaw Island BBQ Wings 



Wadmalaw Sauce:

 1 cup apple cider vinegar

 1 cup ketchup

 1 cup packed brown sugar

 1 cup yellow mustard

1/2 cup whole grain mustard

 1 tablespoons onion powder

 1 teaspoon garlic powder

 Dash of hot sauce

 Dash of Worcestershire sauce

Salt Pepper to taste


1lb Chicken wings

2 teaspoon salt

2 teaspoon pepper

Dash of liquid smoked

1/3 cup Olive Oil


Marinate chicken for at least 2 hours or overnight in salt, pepper, liquid smoke and olive oil.

For sauce combine all ingredients into a medium sized sauce pan. Whisk then bring to a slight boil. Leave pot on lo for 3 hours.

Turn indoor stove top grill on high. Also pre heat oven to 375. Grill marinated chicken wings on both sides for about 10 mins or until you see dark grill marks (should be slightly charred). Toss grilled wings in 1 cup of BBQ sauce. Place wings in a large baking dish (inside face down). Bake wings uncovered for 15 mins. Serve hot with sides of your choice.
